The Ellipsis Institute for Womxn of Color in the Academy is a research center that uses intersectionality as a core feminist practice to create space for womxn of color students, staff, and faculty. At the Ellipsis Institute we strive to build relationships across lines of difference in the unified pursuit of advocacy efforts for all womxn, in all roles. 

 

In early 2021, led by UBUNTU Research and Evaluation, Ellipsis embarked on a strategic planning journey as our academic work spaces were rapidly shifting. The data showed that we did not have diverse offerings and this limited our opportunity for deep connection and impact. The need for rest and retreat became clear. At Ellipsis, we seek to embody the theories and pedagogies of today’s Black Feminists such as dr. yaba blay, Tricia Hersey, Sonya Renee Taylor and adrienne maree brown in stating that rest is not only resistance, but rest, for Black womxn, girls and femmes, IS revolution.  Our inaugural professional development retreat for womxn of color, Relax, Relate, Release, seeks to position us to do just that.  Upon return, it is our contention that we will be equipped to translate, code and decode our experiences and learnings into our professional spaces.  Visit our website to learn more about the retreat.
